Tiny teacup yorkys often have many health problems. In fact, breeding yorkys for pure small size is cruel. Just the phrase tiny teacup yorky is not harmful. Unfortunately the tinier the dog the unhealthier the pet. Yorky dog size and yorky health risks are negatively correlated.
Teacup yorkie is a controversial term. Many yorkie lovers will tell you that teacup yorkie is always used in reference to backyard breeders. Backyard breeders, also somewhat synonymous to puppy mills, are unethical yorkie breeders who are greedy money grubbers. Such breeders breed runts of yorkie litters until they create a yorkie that will not reach 3 pounds when full grown.
A yorky is a specific breed of dog, or one of the shortened names for the breed "yorkshire terrier." A yorky is a smaller dog, actually classified as a toy breed. The yorkshire terrier weight breed standard is 3 to 7 pounds. Sometimes a yorky is bred to be smaller but this is unethical. A yorky who meets the requirements of the breed standard, including the maximum weight of seven pounds is very small.
