Yorky care: House training

In house training yorkies, it also is useful to dogs to avoid jumping at someone. Jumping up is, in my opinion, of the greatest curses of owning an untrained dog. bella-yorkey

With a puppy, one is inclined to forgive it as just as a show of exuberance, but later on, when the dog comes in with muddy paws and jumps up for play, or a kiss – it can be ruin your dress or suit.

Therefore, stop this trick in the beginning. I always kneel down when really praising a small dog, so that the inclination to jump up needn’t arise.

The dog only jumps up to be near your face. Yorkys have fascination for faces.  A well-trained dog never takes his eyes off his master while working in a competition, and this eagerness to be near his master’s face begins very early in life.

And are we humans likely to catch any disease if we kiss our dogs? Yes, and only one ill is communicable to man from dogs and that is the tapeworm, so if you want to kiss your dog, don’t kiss his nose or muzzle.

I always lay my face against a dog’s cheek so that I can whisper sweet nothings into its ear. I have trained my puppy to wait for a kiss; she puts her head on one side and waits until I give her a kiss before showing terrific pleasure by really lifting her upper lip in a toothy smile.

Sometimes, I have to give her five or six kisses before she is satisfied: I really have to love her a lot!

Dogs adore affection. I know very few owners who really give their dogs all the affection they need. Of course there are cranks who overdo it but we are not concerned with such people, who probably lack love in their normal human relations and who, therefore give exaggerated affection to their dogs and expect it to be returned.

I also believe that part of house training yorkies is talking to your dog, as it is a very essential matter in establishing rapport with him. You will be amazed how much your dog understands, not only by the tone of your voice, but from actual words.

In fact, there are a vast number of combinations of words in a dog’s dictionary. It is your business to help him build up this vocabulary starting with his name, then simple words which would house train him.
